USPS delivered late.
Check the receipt.
A late Priority Mail Express shipment may qualify for a postage refund. Check the sender, guaranteed arrival time, exclusions and filing window first.

The sender may request a domestic Priority Mail Express postage refund when the service guarantee was missed and no exclusion applies. Compare tracking with the guaranteed date and time on the mailing receipt. USPS lists a 2–30 day filing window after mailing without extra services, or 30–60 days with an extra service. Ordinary Priority Mail, international mail and loss or damage claims use different rules.

Start with the service you actually bought.
Find the mailing receipt and tracking number. Confirm that the product was domestic Priority Mail Express, rather than ordinary Priority Mail. Read the guaranteed arrival date and time printed on the receipt, then compare it with tracking and any delivery attempt.
Only the mailer—the sender—may request the Priority Mail Express postage refund. If you were the recipient, ask the sender to review the receipt and submit any eligible request. An insurance claim for a lost or damaged item is a separate process.
USPS domestic refund guidance ↗Check the route and reason for the delay.
The guarantee has exceptions. USPS lists incorrect addresses, some holds or forwarding, certain disruptions and other circumstances in Domestic Mail Manual 604.9.5.5. Read that list before assuming the postage is refundable.
Route matters too: USPS excludes non-loss postage refunds for Priority Mail Express sent to or from Alaska or Hawaii and lists additional territorial and military exceptions. Holiday-period and live-animal or hazardous-material rules can also change eligibility. Check the rule for your actual shipment.
USPS Domestic Mail Manual, section 604.9.5 ↗Use the mailing date to work out the window.
USPS publishes two application windows: from 2 through 30 days after mailing for Priority Mail Express without extra services; from 30 through 60 days after mailing when an extra service was purchased. Keep the receipt so you can identify which applies.
Each tracking number can be used for one refund request. USPS says to combine the Priority Mail Express and related extra-service refund requests for that item. Combining the request does not make every extra-service fee refundable.
USPS application windows and required evidence ↗Keep the evidence with the request.
You can apply online with a free USPS.com account, or use the published Post Office process. Use the official domestic refund page to start. Business senders can also find the business refund route there.
Save the request reference, submission date and any uploaded proof. If USPS denies or partly pays the request, its guidance allows a dispute within 30 days of receiving the decision. Follow the instructions in your decision; do not submit a duplicate request for the same tracking number.
- Gather the proof. Keep the mailing receipt, tracking record, guaranteed arrival time and applicable service details together.
- Submit as the sender. Use the official refund route and save the reference. Keep account sign-in and any in-person identification with the authorized owner.
- Verify the payment. USPS says approved online business refunds are paid by check. A request or approval is not money received.

Let Huck pursue the billing follow-up.
If the receipt and shipping correspondence are in Gmail, Huck can find the charge and supporting evidence, show you the amount at issue, and pursue an approved refund request. You remain the sender of record; any required owner sign-in or in-person step stays with you.
Huck follows up on the request and reports the result you can verify. Eligibility and payment are USPS decisions. A possible refund stays separate from a refund actually received.
We find the money.
We do the chasing.
Huck finds the money slipping out of your business, shows you what each charge is worth, and does the chasing when you say so. Cancellations, refund requests and vendor negotiations follow through to a result you can check.
Connect Gmail. No bank login. Anything that moves money always asks.
See how Huck handles bills and renewals ↗We find the charge.
Huck finds renewals, price increases, duplicate payments and refunds owed in your Gmail, with a dollar figure on each finding.
You decide.
Review the proposed change. Cancellations, downgrades and refund requests need your yes each time.
We do the chasing.
Huck cancels, requests the refund or works the vendor’s chat, then follows up until the request is settled. Huck checks your bill for the lower charge, credit or refund and texts you the result.
A few things
before you act.
Can the recipient request the refund?
USPS limits a Priority Mail Express postage refund request to the mailer. Ask the sender to review the receipt and request an eligible refund.
Does ordinary Priority Mail have the same late-delivery refund?
This guide covers domestic Priority Mail Express. Do not apply its service guarantee to ordinary Priority Mail or an international shipment.
Does a delivery attempt count?
USPS rules consider delivery attempts and availability for pickup as well as delivery. Compare the tracking events with the applicable guarantee before filing.
Will the refund appear automatically on the shipping bill?
Do not assume so. USPS says approved online business refunds are paid by check. Save the approval and confirm the payment was received.
