Cancel Vonage Business.
Port your numbers out first.

Vonage Business contracts renew on their own at a higher price, and leaving early means paying out the term. Huck finds your Vonage receipts in Gmail, tells you what you pay and when the term ends, and makes the change when you say yes.

The short answer

To cancel Vonage Business, a Super User or Account Administrator calls Vonage at 1-866-901-0242, or, only if the account was opened online through self-service, signs in to the Admin Portal, goes to Account Details and follows the option to cancel. Contracts renew automatically unless you give notice at least 60 days before the term ends, renewal raises the subscription charges by 7%, and cancelling before the term ends leaves the remaining contracted charges through the end of the term to pay. Charges already paid are non-refundable, and Vonage does not prorate refunds when services come off mid-cycle. If you want to keep your phone numbers, get a port date from the new provider first and set a later cancellation date in the Admin Portal, because numbers cannot transfer once the account is canceled.

Vonage Business cancels by phone, or online if you signed up online.

Vonage lets you cancel by phone, or online only if you signed up for the account through self-service. Only Super Users and Account Administrators can request a cancellation. Vonage’s Terms of Service give the number as 1-866-901-0242, and say accounts set up by telephone cancel by telephone.

  1. Port out any numbers you want to keep. Ask the new provider to start the port and give you a transfer date before you cancel anything at Vonage.
  2. Check your contract dates. In the Admin Portal, select Billing, then Bill History, then Contracts, and download the contract to see its end date and term length.
  3. Signed up online: cancel in the Admin Portal. Sign in, go to Account Details and follow the instructions to cancel. If you are porting, pick a cancellation date after the port date. Available dates line up with your billing date, and any early cancellation fee shows when you pick one.
  4. Signed up by phone or through sales: call Vonage. A Super User or Account Administrator calls 1-866-901-0242 during hours of operation. Ask for the cancellation date and any final charges by email so you have a dated record.
  5. Watch the port. If the port finishes before your cancellation date, nothing more is needed. If it is running late, sign in and push the cancellation date out, since a canceled account cannot release its numbers.

Port numbers out before the account closes.

Vonage calls this a port away. You start it with the new provider, not with Vonage, and the steps are the same for local and toll-free numbers. Vonage does not require a PIN to port. If the new provider’s form insists on one, Vonage says any 4 digit number works.

Porting a number out does not cancel your Vonage Business services, and Vonage is not always told when a number leaves. Set a future cancellation date in the Admin Portal so the account closes after the port. Cancellation fees may apply if the transfer happens before a term contract ends, and Vonage shows them when you choose the date.

Contracts renew on their own, at 7% more.

Vonage says all contracts renew automatically. Its Terms of Service, last updated July 9, 2025, renew each term for the same length unless either side gives written notice of non-renewal at least 60 days before the term ends, and raise the subscription charges by 7% on auto-renewal. Vonage’s contract help page says to remove auto-renewal by calling at least 60 days before the term expires, and the terms send cancellation and non-renewal notices to Vonage Customer Care or your account manager by email. Doing both covers you.

If you keep using the service after a term ends, it runs month to month at Vonage’s current monthly rates, and either side can end a month-to-month service with at least 30 days’ advance written notice.

Our Vonage Business account [company name, account number] has a contract ending [date]. Please treat this as our written notice of non-renewal and cancel all services at the end of the current term. We are porting [phone numbers] to a new provider with a transfer date of [date]. Please confirm the cancellation date and any final charges by email.
Vonage Business Cloud Terms of Service ↗

Leaving early means paying out the term.

Vonage says an Early Termination Fee may apply if you cancel the account early, or remove services, rentals or products before the contract term ends. The Terms of Service set the amount: if services are reduced or ended other than for an uncured default, all charges under that sales order speed up, and you pay what you owe for service already provided plus the remaining contracted charges through the end of the term, any extra charges such as usage and equipment purchases, and taxes and fees.

There are two ways out without the fee in the terms. Either side can end the agreement if the other materially breaches it and does not fix it within 30 days of written notice. And if Vonage passes on an increase in certain costs or charges, you can end the service without an early termination fee by giving notice within 60 days of Vonage’s notice.

Rented phones are part of the contract. Vonage’s current pages don’t describe how to return them, so ask Vonage for return instructions in writing when you cancel.

Recordings and voicemails go with the account.

Under Vonage’s terms, call recordings are kept until you delete them, the service is cancelled, or you run out of storage, and you can download them any time before cancellation. Voicemail messages are kept 90 days from recording and 7 days after the service ends. Download anything you need before the cancellation date.

Removing a single service is not the same as cancelling. Vonage says removing services does not cancel the account, every account must keep at least one Unlimited Extension and one Local Company Number, and early termination fees can apply to removals too.

Vonage bills in advance and doesn’t prorate.

Monthly service fees are charged in advance to the payment method on file, and usage such as international or metered calls lands on the next invoice. So expect a final invoice with the last month’s usage after you cancel. Your Company Contact gets an email on the bill cycle date, and the invoice is in the Admin Portal under Billing.

Vonage’s terms say charges paid are non-refundable unless the agreement says otherwise, and its help center says prorated refunds are not offered when services are removed mid-billing cycle. If a bill looks wrong, the terms require you to open a billing dispute within 90 days of the invoice date, by email to customercare-vb@vonage.com. After that you waive the right to dispute it.

Our Vonage Business account [company name, account number] was cancelled effective [date]. Invoice [number] dated [date] charges [amount] for [service or period after cancellation]. We dispute this charge and ask Vonage to credit it to the payment method on file. Please confirm by email.

Huck catches the 60-day window and checks the last bill.

Huck finds Vonage Business invoices and renewal notices in your Gmail and texts you what you pay and when the contract ends, so the non-renewal notice goes out more than 60 days before the term rolls over at 7% more.

When you say yes, Huck sets the cancellation date in Vonage’s Admin Portal if you signed up online, or sends the non-renewal notice or a billing dispute to Vonage from your Gmail, then checks the final invoice. You handle the Vonage sign-in, the phone call if your account needs one, and the number port with your new provider. Vonage decides any refund or credit.
