Stopping renewal, moving to a lower plan and closing the account have different consequences. Choose the change you want before confirming it.

Start with the administrator and biller for the DocuSign eSignature account. Use the cancellation or stop-auto-renewal route to stop a future term, and check its effective date. A downgrade or account closure is a separate choice with document-access consequences. Preserve needed documents before changing plans; Apple, Google Play and sales-managed purchases use their own routes.

Separate the bill from the account.
Match the invoice to the eSignature account, administrator, seller and contract term. A person who only signs documents may not control the paid subscription.
Decide whether you want to stop the next renewal, downgrade to a lower plan, or close the account. DocuSign treats these as different procedures. Check sending limits and document access before a downgrade; save needed documents before closure.
Do not close an account merely because you cannot find a billing button. Preserve completed agreements and the records your business needs, and ask the administrator to review the available subscription controls.
DocuSign’s cancellation, downgrade and closure guide ↗Follow the route for the actual purchase.
Read the renewal date and any notice requirement in your agreement. A scheduled change can take effect at the applicable renewal term rather than on the request date.
- Open billing as an administrator. Sign in, select Admin and open Plan and Billing under ACCOUNT.
- Choose the subscription change. For most online plans, select Manage Subscription → Cancel subscription. Legacy, Developer and Real Estate Starter plans have separate instructions; Apple and Google Play purchases use their store.
- Review and confirm. Read the cancellation information and effective date, then select Confirm Cancellation and Continue. Do not select Close Account just to stop renewal.
- Keep the result. Save the confirmation and term end date. DocuSign says the account downgrades to Free at the end of the subscription term; check the resulting limits and document access.
A missing button is a routing problem to resolve.
DocuSign says available options depend on plan, purchase channel, administrator access and pending plan changes. Check those details before opening a second request.
For an agreement bought through a sales representative, use the account’s sales or support route to establish the required notice and effective date. Do not assume a self-service plan’s terms apply to your agreement.
If a change is already scheduled, ask support to confirm it. Do not undo a pending cancellation simply to make the controls available again.
Why Manage Subscription may be unavailable ↗Ask for the decision on your purchase.
Cancellation does not by itself establish refund eligibility. DocuSign directs refund questions to its refund policy and processing instructions. Some eligible accounts opened online can receive an automatic refund when closing or moving to Free; sales-representative purchases and ineligible digital purchases are excluded from that automatic route.
Do not close an account solely to try to trigger a refund. First establish eligibility and preserve documents. Keep the refund decision, amount and expected payment method with the cancellation confirmation.
Please confirm renewal is stopped for [account/subscription], the effective date and any remaining payment obligation. I want to preserve access to [documents/workflow]. Please explain the appropriate cancellation or downgrade route and whether the [date] charge is eligible for a refund.DocuSign’s refund-route qualifications ↗

We do the chasing.
Huck cancels, requests the refund or works the vendor’s chat, then follows up until the request is settled. Huck checks your bill for the lower charge, credit or refund and texts you the result.
A few things
before you act.
Must I close the account to stop renewal?
DocuSign distinguishes stopping renewal, downgrading and closing. Use the route for the outcome you want and review the effective date before confirming.
Why can’t I manage the subscription?
Check administrator access, purchase channel and any pending plan change. A signer-only account may not own the subscription. Ask support before reversing an existing cancellation.
Does canceling guarantee a refund?
No. Eligibility depends on the purchase and applicable policy. Ask for a written decision, and keep document access separate from the refund request.
