Cancel Mailchimp.
Pick the right way out.

Mailchimp gives you three ways to stop paying: downgrade, pause or delete. Huck finds your Mailchimp receipts in Gmail, tells you what you pay and when the next charge lands, and handles the change when you say yes.

Connect Gmail to get started. You approve each money action.

The short answer

To stop paying for a monthly Mailchimp plan, downgrade to the Free plan from Account, then Billing, then Monthly plans or credits, then Change Plan. To delete the account, go to Account, then Settings, then Manage my plan. A downgrade takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle, and Mailchimp lets you move from a paid plan to Free only once in the life of the account. Deleting is permanent and needs any balance paid first. Monthly plans get no refund. Annual plans are closed by contacting sales, with a full refund only within 60 days of purchase.

Downgrade to Free, or delete the account.

Mailchimp’s Standard Terms of Use, updated October 10, 2025, say you can close a monthly plan’s account permanently at any time, and that billing for monthly plans recurs on the same day each month. A month you have started is a month you pay for, so make the change before your next billing date.

  1. Check your next billing date. Open your profile icon, then Account, then the Billing drop-down and Monthly plans or credits.
  2. To keep the account, downgrade. On Monthly plans or credits, find the Marketing Plan section and click Change Plan. The downgrade takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle, and you keep your current plan until then.
  3. Clear anything over the Free plan’s limits. If you have more contacts, seats or audiences than the new plan allows, Mailchimp pauses sending until you fix it.
  4. To leave for good, export, then delete. Back up your audience and reports. Then go to Account, Settings, Manage my plan, click Delete my account, confirm your password, type DELETE and click Permanently delete. Any outstanding balance has to be paid first.
  5. On an annual plan, contact Mailchimp sales. The terms say annual plans are closed by contacting sales during the billing cycle.

If you bought Pay As You Go credits, moving to the Free plan loses any credits you have left.

Mailchimp: change or pause your Marketing plan ↗

Deleting can’t be undone. Free can be used once.

Mailchimp says a deleted account is permanently closed and can’t be restored, and that all data tied to your audiences, campaign archives and reports is removed. Download what you need before you delete.

A downgrade keeps the account but limits it. Mailchimp lets you move from any paid plan to the Free plan only once over the life of the account, so if you think you may pay again later, a pause may be the better choice.

Mailchimp: pause or cancel your account ↗

Pause for 3 or 6 months to stop the bill and keep the data.

Mailchimp lets you pause a Marketing plan for 3 or 6 months, up to 2 times in any 12 months. Pausing stops monthly billing for the Marketing plan and keeps your data. You can still edit emails, view reports and manage your audience, but you can’t send. A paid Websites plan stays active and keeps billing. When the pause ends, the account restarts and billing resumes automatically.

  1. Open Manage my plan. Profile icon, then Account, then the Settings drop-down, then Manage my plan.
  2. Click Pause my plan. Choose 3 or 6 months and click Pause Marketing plan.
  3. Put the end date in your calendar. Billing restarts on its own when the pause ends. Decide before then whether to downgrade or delete.

No refunds on monthly plans. Annual plans have 60 days.

Mailchimp’s terms say you are not entitled to a refund or credit on monthly paid Marketing plans under any circumstance, though Mailchimp may offer one at its own discretion.

Annual plans come with a 60-day money-back guarantee: you can ask for a full refund of the annual fee through Mailchimp’s billing contact page within 60 days of the purchase date. After that, closing an annual plan early brings no refund.

Please refund the annual Mailchimp Marketing plan for account [account name], bought on [purchase date]. This request is within the 60-day money-back guarantee in Mailchimp’s Standard Terms of Use. Please confirm the refund amount and date by email.

Huck catches the billing date and makes the change.

Huck finds Mailchimp receipts in your Gmail and texts you what you pay each month and when the next charge lands, so a downgrade or pause happens before the next bill. On an annual plan, Huck flags the 60-day refund window while it is still open.

When you say yes, Huck downgrades or pauses the plan in Mailchimp’s account settings, or sends the refund request to Mailchimp from your Gmail, then checks the next receipt. You handle the Mailchimp sign-in and the final delete step if you choose to delete. Mailchimp decides any refund.

We do the chasing.

Huck finds the money slipping out of your business, shows you what each charge is worth, and does the chasing when you say so. Cancellations, refund requests and vendor negotiations follow through to a result you can check.
