Cancel Microsoft 365.
Keep your business running.
A software renewal can also be your company’s email, files and security. Plan the handover before stopping the subscription.

For Microsoft 365 business plans, have the billing owner review the subscription in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Save business data first. Cancellation and turning off recurring billing have different effects: an annual commitment paid monthly can still require the remaining payments. Personal and Family plans use a separate consumer process.

Start with the agreement and the data.
This guide covers Microsoft 365 for business. Use Microsoft’s separate Personal or Family instructions for a consumer subscription. Confirm the seller, billing-account type, term and administrator on the actual invoice.
Before making the cancellation effective, have your IT owner preserve email, contacts, calendars, OneDrive and SharePoint files. Microsoft says users lose access when cancellation takes effect. Explicit subscription deletion can delete SharePoint and OneDrive content immediately.
If you added a custom domain, Microsoft lists removing it as a prerequisite to cancellation. Arrange that change with the person responsible for email and DNS; removing a business domain without a migration plan can disrupt work. Domain subscriptions have their own renewal setting.
Huck can help identify the charge and pursue supported billing requests. Data exports, domain moves, tenant deletion and security changes remain with your administrator.
Microsoft’s business cancellation guidance ↗A monthly payment can belong to an annual term.
For a Microsoft Customer Agreement billing account, Microsoft normally allows cancellation with a prorated credit or refund within seven days after the subscription starts or renews. Outside that window, turn off recurring billing to prevent the next term; access continues through the remaining term.
An annual subscription billed monthly continues charging for the remaining commitment. Ask for the remaining balance and the paid-through date before treating non-renewal as immediate savings.
Microsoft Online Subscription Agreement accounts have different cancellation rules. Partner purchases and Microsoft seller-led orders may need the seller’s help. Use the options shown for your account rather than applying the seven-day rule to every contract.
Compare Microsoft’s MCA and MOSA rules ↗Make the billing change you actually want.
Have a person with the required billing permissions sign in. For an MCA account, use the following route; MOSA screens and options differ.
- Find the subscription. In the admin center, open Subscriptions in Simplified view, or Billing → Your products in Dashboard view. Select the exact product.
- Review the options. Under Billing settings → Subscription status, select Cancel subscription. Check whether immediate cancellation is available.
- Choose the timing. If the account is outside the eligible cancellation window, edit recurring billing, select Off and Save. Read the resulting renewal and payment dates.
- Keep confirmation. Record the product, seats, effective date, remaining charges and any approved credit. Review other subscriptions separately.
Reconcile three dates.
Keep the request date, service end date and last expected payment date together. They may differ. Compare the next invoice with the account’s confirmation rather than expecting every charge to stop immediately.
If a partner bills the subscription, obtain that partner’s written confirmation too. A Microsoft account setting alone does not resolve a separate seller agreement.
Please confirm the renewal setting and effective end date for [subscription]. The term shown is [term], billed [frequency]. Please list any remaining payments and any eligible credit, and confirm which subscriptions this request affects.
We find the money.
We do the chasing.
Huck finds the money slipping out of your business, shows you what each charge is worth, and does the chasing when you say so. Cancellations, refund requests and vendor negotiations follow through to a result you can check.

See how Huck handles bills and renewals ↗We find the charge.
Huck finds renewals, price increases, duplicate payments and refunds owed in your Gmail, with a dollar figure on each finding.
You decide.
Review the proposed change. Cancellations, downgrades and refund requests need your yes each time.
We do the chasing.
Huck cancels, requests the refund or works the vendor’s chat, then follows up until the request is settled. Huck checks your bill for the lower charge, credit or refund and texts you the result.
A few things
before you act.
Is turning off recurring billing the same as canceling today?
No. It prevents the next renewal. Microsoft’s MCA guidance says you retain access through the remaining term, and annual commitments billed monthly still require the remaining payments.
Should I delete the subscription or tenant?
Deletion is a separate, potentially destructive action. Preserve records and have your administrator handle migration and any deletion decision.
What about Microsoft 365 Personal or Family?
Use Microsoft’s consumer subscription cancellation page, linked in the sources. The business admin-center permissions and agreement rules do not apply to those plans.
