How do I cancel
Smartsheet?
Smartsheet wants plan changes at least 30 days before renewal, gives no refunds for unused time, and permanently deletes your sheets 30 days after a cancellation takes effect. Huck finds your Smartsheet receipts in Gmail, tells you the renewal date and notice deadline, and cancels when you say yes.
Connect Gmail to get started. You approve each money action.
To cancel Smartsheet, the System Admin (the account owner on Pro) signs in at app.smartsheet.com, selects Account, then Plan & Billing Info, clicks Cancel Account, then Continue to cancellation, and confirms with Cancel and accept data loss, choosing to cancel now or at the end of the billing cycle. Smartsheet says to cancel at least 30 days before your renewal date, cancelled accounts get no pro-rated or full refund, your items turn read-only and are permanently deleted 30 days after the cancellation date, so export or transfer them first. Invoice-billed accounts cancel through Smartsheet’s cancellation request form instead, and Enterprise plans can only be cancelled through Smartsheet Support or your sales rep. A free trial is cancelled from the same Cancel Account button, where you can switch to Free or deactivate.

The System Admin cancels under Plan & Billing Info.
Smartsheet’s help center says only the System Admin can cancel a Pro or Business plan, and you can cancel immediately or at the end of the billing cycle. The confirmation page shows the cancellation effective date, that work becomes read-only, and that all data is permanently deleted 30 days after the effective date.
- Export or transfer your sheets first. See the steps below. After the 30 days, Smartsheet can’t recover them.
- Sign in at app.smartsheet.com as the System Admin. On Pro, that is the account owner.
- Select Account, then Plan & Billing Info. The Account Administration window opens on the Plan & Billing tab.
- Click Cancel Account, then Continue to cancellation. Smartsheet may offer video guides or the Community first; you can skip them.
- Review the confirmation page and click Cancel and accept data loss. Or click Keep my plan active to stop. To close the account right away instead of at the end of the term, select Delete Account afterward.

Export or hand over your sheets before the 30 days run out.
Smartsheet says cancelling makes your items read-only immediately and deletes them permanently 30 days after cancellation. Items other people shared with you stay accessible, but you can’t create new files.
- List the sheets you own. Decide which to keep, hand over or drop.
- Transfer ownership of sheets others still use. They keep working in them after you leave.
- Export the rest. Smartsheet suggests exporting sheet data to use in Excel or Google Sheets.
Invoice and Enterprise plans cancel by request, not in the app.
If you bought through Smartsheet’s sales team and pay by invoice, an account admin submits the invoice account cancellation request form, chooses Cancel subscription and enters a cancellation date at least 30 days before the renewal date. Smartsheet’s billing team usually reviews it within two or three business days and confirms the date.
Enterprise plans have custom billing cycles and contract terms, so you can’t cancel them in the app: contact your Smartsheet sales representative or the Account and Billing team. If you cancelled but the subscription hasn’t ended, Smartsheet Support may be able to reactivate it.
Smartsheet: cancel an invoice-billed or Enterprise plan ↗Reduce Members to pay less without cancelling.
Smartsheet lets a System Admin on card billing reduce Members under Plan & Billing Info, Reduce Members, after removing the extra users. The change shows right away and the new rate bills at the next renewal. Invoice customers use the downgrade request form at least 30 days before renewal. You can’t move from Business or Enterprise down to Pro, and downgrades get no prorated refund.
- Remove the extra users first. Do it on the Seat types and true-up page in the Admin Center.
- Go to Account, Plan & Billing Info, Reduce Members. Then Next: Configure Plan.
- Lower the Member count and click Reduce Members. You pay the new rate from the next renewal.
You lose editing now and your data after 30 days.
Once the cancellation takes effect, you and your team lose editing and collaborating access, can’t create new files, and lose everything you own 30 days later with no way to recover it. If you were on a plan Smartsheet no longer sells, such as Team or Advanced, you can’t buy it again.
Smartsheet gives no refund for the unused part of a subscription, so cancelling mid-term ends access without returning money.
Smartsheet billing FAQs ↗Huck watches the renewal date and cancels on your yes.
Huck finds Smartsheet receipts and renewal emails in your Gmail and texts you what you pay, how many Members you are billed for and the date your 30-day notice is due, so the plan doesn’t renew for another year by default.
With your yes, Huck cancels or reduces Members in Plan & Billing Info while you handle the sign-in, reminds you to export first, then checks your next statements for a charge that shouldn’t be there. Smartsheet decides any refund; Huck does not promise one.
