Stop GoDaddy
auto-renewal.

Many GoDaddy products renew automatically. Huck finds the GoDaddy renewal in your Gmail, shows what it’s worth, and turns it off before the charge when you say yes.

The short answer

Sign in to GoDaddy, open Renewals and Billing and select Manage Subscriptions. Select the product, select Cancel Plan, choose a reason and select Continue to Cancel, then Confirm Cancel. GoDaddy shows the date the subscription ends; you keep the product until then and aren’t charged on the next billing date. Domains need active status, and domains with Domain Protection ask you to verify your identity.

Cancel the plan before the next billing date.

GoDaddy turns off automatic renewal by canceling the product’s subscription. You keep using the product until the end of the subscription, and you aren’t charged on the next billing date.

  1. Open your subscriptions. Sign in to GoDaddy, go to Renewals and Billing and select Manage Subscriptions.
  2. Select the product. In the Subscriptions list, select the product and then select Cancel Plan.
  3. Give a reason. Choose a reason and select Continue to Cancel. GoDaddy may ask another question or two; select Continue to Cancel again.
  4. Check the end date. Below Confirm your cancellation, GoDaddy shows the date the subscription will be cancelled. Write it down.
  5. Confirm. Select Confirm Cancel.
  6. Check the list. Back in Manage Subscriptions, a product that won’t renew shows the date its subscription will be cancelled instead of a next renewal date.

Domains have two extra checks.

GoDaddy cancels domain renewals from the same Renewals and Billing page. A domain must be in active status before you can change its auto-renew setting; if you can’t cancel one, its status may be pending updates.

For a domain with Domain Protection, GoDaddy verifies your identity. Select Yes, Delete this product, then Verify and delete. GoDaddy sends a code by text or authenticator app if 2-step verification has been on for more than 24 hours; otherwise select Send Password for a one-time password to your account email.

GoDaddy says domain changes can take up to 90 minutes to show in your account. Check the list again after that.

How do I cancel GoDaddy email?

Professional Email and Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy cancel the same way as any GoDaddy product: from Manage Subscriptions. Cancel Plan stops the renewal and keeps the mailboxes until the end date. Delete removes the plan now; GoDaddy warns that a deleted product might not be recoverable, even if there’s time remaining in the subscription.

Deleting one mailbox is not the same as canceling the plan. GoDaddy says deleting a user leaves the plan available to create a new user, so you keep paying for it. To stop paying, cancel or delete the email plan itself; deleting it removes the plan and every user account on it.

Microsoft 365 email packs, which came from GoDaddy’s move off Workspace Email, can’t be canceled one account at a time. Canceling the pack deletes all its email accounts, used and unused.

On a 12-month commitment billed monthly (US only), canceling within 180 days of purchase brings an early cancellation fee: $10.00 for Microsoft 365 Email Essentials and $20.00 for Microsoft 365 Email Plus with Security.

Want money back on the email plan? GoDaddy says to delete it first, then ask GoDaddy Guides by phone, SMS or chat. Refund requests received by email will not be processed.

Advanced Email Security has no cancel button in GoDaddy’s help. GoDaddy says to contact its GoDaddy Guides to disable or remove it.

  1. Save the mail first. Export every mailbox you want to keep before you touch the plan. See the next section.
  2. Open your subscriptions. Go to Renewals and Billing and select Manage Subscriptions, then select the email plan.
  3. To stop paying at renewal, select Cancel Plan. Choose a reason and select Continue to Cancel. If GoDaddy asks more questions, select Continue to Cancel again. Check the end date, then select Confirm Cancel. The mailboxes keep working until that date, and you aren’t charged again. You can stop here.
  4. Only to remove it now: ask for the delete email. If the plan isn’t set to auto-renew, select Delete. After Cancel Plan, select Click here below Confirm your cancellation. Check the box that says you must open the email and select ‘Yes, I want to delete,’ then select Send email. Deleting ends the email now, even with time left, and GoDaddy warns it might not be recoverable.
  5. Confirm from your inbox. Open GoDaddy’s "Action Required" email and select Yes, I Want to Delete! It goes to the email address on your GoDaddy account; if it doesn’t arrive, GoDaddy says to check that address is up to date.
  6. Finish in GoDaddy. Select Delete. GoDaddy confirms the product was deleted from the account.

Free email that came with another product won’t appear in Manage Subscriptions. GoDaddy says to contact support to cancel it.

Export the mailboxes before the plan goes.

Once a user is deleted, GoDaddy says its contents are no longer accessible. You can restore a Microsoft 365 user within 30 days of deletion and a Professional Email user within 14 days. After that, plan on the mail being gone.

For Microsoft 365, GoDaddy’s steps use Outlook: in Classic Outlook, select File, Open & Export, Import/Export, Export to a file, then Outlook Data File (.pst). Outlook for Mac exports an .olm file. Turn off Cached Exchange mode first, otherwise the export will only include the last 12 months. The export leaves out message rules and blocked sender lists, and GoDaddy Guides can’t help you export data.

Add-ons go with the plan. GoDaddy says Email Backup backups are removed automatically when the add-on is deleted and can’t be restored. Download anything in Email Archiving before it’s removed.

Moving Microsoft 365 to Microsoft or another reseller? Don’t delete your mailboxes at GoDaddy first. A GoDaddy Guide opens the move ticket, your plans must stay active and not expire within the next 5 business days, and licenses bought through GoDaddy won’t transfer.

  1. Export each mailbox. In Classic Outlook: File, Open & Export, Import/Export, Export to a file, Outlook Data File (.pst). Select the account name and include subfolders.
  2. Export contacts and calendars too. Classic Outlook exports one type at a time, so repeat for contacts, calendar and tasks.
  3. Point the domain’s email somewhere new. If the domain will keep sending and receiving mail, set up the new provider before you delete the GoDaddy plan.

After the end date, the product and its data are gone.

GoDaddy says that after the cancellation date, your product and all associated data will be deleted. Save anything you need before then.

If the domain points to your website or business email, both depend on it. Move them, or keep that domain renewing. If you change your mind before the end date, GoDaddy lets you renew the subscription manually.

GoDaddy: what happens after cancellation ↗

Which refund policy applies depends on GoDaddy’s email.

On October 23, 2026, GoDaddy’s refund policy page (last revised September 14, 2026) said the policy is changing effective October 15, 2026. GoDaddy says the change applies only if you received its notice email on September 15, 2026, and that the current policy still applies if you got that email but renewed or bought before October 15, 2026.

Under the current policy, the refund period counts from the date of the transaction, including the date a renewal is processed: 30 days for annual plans, 48 hours for monthly plans, and 45 days for a one-year domain auto-renewal (5 days for multi-year auto-renewals and manual renewals). Some products and domain endings are never refundable.

Under the updated policy, GoDaddy says it does not offer refunds on renewals, manual or automatic, unless the policy’s product exceptions say otherwise or the law requires one. The exceptions it lists for renewals include Microsoft 365 annual plans within 7 days, annual Business Email plans within 30 days, and un-managed SSL, Website Security and Sitelock 911 within 30 days, each with its own conditions.

Either way, ask for a refund before you close your GoDaddy account. GoDaddy says refunds aren’t available after closure, and it points customers to its GoDaddy Guides to check eligibility.

Please refund the [product] renewal charged on [date] for [amount], order [reference]. I turned off auto-renewal on [date]. Please confirm whether this renewal is eligible under the refund policy that applies to my account, and the amount and date of any refund.

Make sure the charge never comes.

Keep the cancellation end date and any GoDaddy email about it. After the old billing date, check your card statement for a GoDaddy charge. If one appears, compare the product and date with what you canceled and ask GoDaddy to review it.

How do I turn off auto-renew on GoDaddy?

Go to Renewals and Billing, select Manage Subscriptions, select the product, then Cancel Plan. Choose a reason, select Continue to Cancel and then Confirm Cancel. You keep the product until the end date and aren’t charged on the next billing date.

Why can’t I turn off auto-renew for my domain?

GoDaddy says a domain must be in active status before you can change its auto-renew setting. If its status is pending updates, wait and try again. Domain changes can take up to 90 minutes to show.

Are GoDaddy renewals refundable?

It depends on which policy applies to you. GoDaddy’s updated policy, effective October 15, 2026 for customers who received its September 15 notice email, does not refund renewals except for listed products or where the law requires it. The current policy allows refunds within set windows, such as 45 days for a one-year domain auto-renewal.

What happens when the subscription ends?

GoDaddy says that after the cancellation date, the product and all associated data will be deleted. Save what you need and move any website or email that depends on a domain first.

I bought it in the GoDaddy app. Where do I cancel?

If you bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play, GoDaddy says to make the change in that store.

How do I cancel my GoDaddy email subscription?

Go to Renewals and Billing, select Manage Subscriptions and select the email plan. Select Cancel Plan to stop the renewal and keep it to the end date, or Delete to remove it now. Deleting asks you to confirm from GoDaddy’s "Action Required" email.

How do I delete a GoDaddy email account?

To remove one mailbox, sign in to the Email & Office Dashboard, select Manage next to the user, select Delete account, check the box and select Delete. That frees the slot but the plan keeps billing. To stop paying, delete the email plan in Manage Subscriptions.

How do I cancel GoDaddy Advanced Email Security?

GoDaddy says to contact its GoDaddy Guides to disable or remove Advanced Email Security. Its help page shows no self-serve way to turn it off.

What happens to my emails when I cancel GoDaddy email?

Deleted mailbox contents are no longer accessible. GoDaddy lets you restore a Microsoft 365 user within 30 days and a Professional Email user within 14 days. Export the mail in Outlook first if you want to keep it.

How do I cancel my GoDaddy domain and email?

Cancel each one in Manage Subscriptions; they are separate products. Do the email plan after you’ve exported your mail. If you bought a subscription that bundles several products, GoDaddy applies changes to all of them and won’t delete or refund one product on its own.
