How do I cancel a Square
subscription and get a refund?

Square subscriptions such as Square Plus, Square Premium and paid add-ons renew until you unsubscribe in Square Dashboard, and Square’s own terms say fees already paid aren’t refunded. Huck finds your Square subscription charges in Gmail, tells you which ones still bill, and unsubscribes when you say yes.

The short answer

To cancel a Square subscription and get a refund, sign in to Square Dashboard, go to Settings, Account & Settings, Pricing and subscriptions, find the subscription and click Unsubscribe (or Manage, then Unsubscribe), then confirm. Square’s General Terms of Service, last updated October 27, 2026, say you keep the subscription through the end of the current billing period and are not entitled to a refund or credit for any subscription fee already due or paid. So the refund question usually has one answer: cancel before the next billing date. Some subscriptions can be paused for up to three months instead, and a move from a legacy Square Online plan to the new plans cancels the Online hosting plan with a prorated refund.

Unsubscribe in Square Dashboard.

Square’s help center says you manage and cancel subscriptions in Square Dashboard, under Pricing and subscriptions.

  1. Sign in to Square Dashboard. Use a web browser on a computer.
  2. Go to Settings, Account & Settings, Pricing and subscriptions. Every subscription on the account is listed there.
  3. Scroll to the subscription you want to cancel. For example Square Plus, Square Premium or an add-on.
  4. Click Unsubscribe, or Manage and then Unsubscribe. Manage shows the subscription’s tiers when it has them.
  5. Select Unsubscribe again to confirm. Keep a screenshot of the confirmation and check the next statement.

Square doesn’t refund the period you already paid for.

Square’s General Terms of Service, last updated October 27, 2026, say you may cancel a subscription service at any time from your Square account settings, keep it through the end of the billing period, and are not entitled to a refund or credit for any subscription fee already due or paid. Signing up, including after a free trial, means you agree to pay the fee.

One exception is on Square’s own plan page: a US seller who moves from a legacy Square Online plan to the new Square plans through the self-serve switch has the Online hosting plan cancelled automatically with a prorated refund. If you were charged after you unsubscribed, contact Square Support with the date and the confirmation.

Hi Square Support, I unsubscribed from [subscription] on [date] in Square Dashboard (confirmation attached), but I was charged [amount] on [date]. Please refund that charge and confirm no further charges for this subscription.

Pausing keeps the account and stops the paid features.

Square says some subscriptions can be paused for up to three months, and pausing removes the paid features at the end of the current billing period. Square Payroll can be paused for up to 9 months. Closing a Square Payroll account is permanent: you can’t pay employees or contractors through it again.

The paid features go at the end of the period.

After the billing period ends, the features that came with the subscription stop. Square’s plans can’t be mixed: you can’t add or remove single features between Square Free, Square Plus and Square Premium, and once you switch to the new plans you can’t go back to a legacy subscription.

Unsubscribing doesn’t close your Square account or stop card processing fees on payments you still take.

Huck finds every Square subscription and unsubscribes on your yes.

Huck finds Square subscription receipts in your Gmail and texts you which ones still bill, what each costs and when the next charge lands, so an add-on you stopped using doesn’t renew again.

With your yes, Huck unsubscribes in Square Dashboard while you handle the sign-in, then checks your next statements for a charge that shouldn’t be there. Square decides any refund; Huck does not promise one.
