How do I cancel
BambooHR?
BambooHR’s terms split on your plan: month-to-month ends any time, an extended contract cannot be cancelled until the term ends and needs 60 days’ notice not to renew. Huck finds your BambooHR invoices in Gmail, works out your plan type and the notice date, and texts you before it passes.

To cancel BambooHR, first check which plan you are on in your Order Form. BambooHR’s Terms of Service, last updated September 18, 2026, let a month-to-month subscription end at any time, effective the last day of the subscription month in which you cancel. An extended-term subscription is non-cancelable until the term ends, auto-renews for 12 months, and needs at least 60 days’ notice before the term expires to stop the renewal. Fees are non-refundable, and you can download your data for 30 days after the end. The terms say you are solely responsible for properly ending the subscription.

Match the cancellation to your plan, then export everything.
Section 2.3 says your termination options depend on the Subscription Term in your Order Form. The terms say you are solely responsible for the proper termination of your subscription, but they do not name a cancel button, so send written notice now, before the deadline, and ask BambooHR to confirm in writing.
- Find your plan type. Check Account > Billing for an extended term contract or Account > Legal for month-to-month, as BambooHR’s FAQ says.
- If month-to-month, decide your end date. Termination takes effect on the last day of the subscription month in which you cancel (section 2.3).
- If on an extended term, count back 60 days. That is the last day to give notice not to renew (section 5.1). Earlier is safer.
- Send written notice. State that you are cancelling (month-to-month) or giving notice not to renew (extended term), name the company and the end date, and ask BambooHR to confirm the route if it wants it submitted another way. Keep the reply.
- Export your data. You have 30 days after the end date to download it (section 2.5).
Hi BambooHR, this is written notice for [company name]. We are on the [month-to-month / extended term] plan. Please treat this as our cancellation [month-to-month] or notice not to renew [extended term], effective [date]. If you need this submitted another way, tell me how and treat this message as sent on today’s date. Please confirm the end date in writing and that no later term will be charged.BambooHR Terms of Service, sections 2.3, 2.5 and 5.1 ↗

| What to know | What BambooHR says |
|---|---|
| Notice, month-to-month | Cancel at any time. It ends on the last day of the subscription month in which you cancel (section 2.3). |
| Notice, extended term | At least 60 days before the term expires to stop renewal (section 5.1). |
| Renewal, month-to-month | Renews month to month automatically (section 5.1). |
| Renewal, extended term | Renews for 12-month terms automatically (section 5.1). |
| Early termination, extended term | Non-cancelable until the term ends; if you terminate without cause you owe the unpaid fees for the rest of the term (section 2.3). |
| Refunds | Fees are non-refundable unless the terms or Order Form say otherwise. A prepaid month-to-month balance that is unearned is refunded, but the prepayment discount is lost (sections 5.2 and 5.7). |
| Data | Download Customer Data for 30 days after the end date; BambooHR may then delete it. Payroll data may be kept for seven years (section 2.5). |
BambooHR says fees are non-refundable, with one prepayment exception.
Section 5.7 says fees paid to BambooHR are non-refundable except as the terms or your Order Form provide. If you prepaid a month-to-month subscription and cancel, section 5.2 says unearned prepaid fees are refunded, but you lose the prepayment discount and pay the difference in monthly pricing for the months you were active. On an extended term, the only refund route in section 2.3 is a failure by BambooHR that it does not cure within 30 days of your written notice.
BambooHR Terms of Service, sections 2.3, 5.2 and 5.7 ↗Employee records, payroll and benefits need a plan before you cancel.
After the subscription ends you can download your Customer Data for 30 days. After that BambooHR has no obligation to keep it and will delete it, unless the law or additional terms say otherwise. If you used BambooHR Payroll, the terms say BambooHR may keep payroll data for seven years for legal and tax reasons.
The terms do not say how to move payroll, benefits or employee self-service to a new provider, so line up the new system and its import requirements first. If BambooHR ends your access for non-payment, the 30-day download window does not apply.
BambooHR Terms of Service, section 2.5 ↗Huck finds your plan type and texts the notice date on your yes.
Huck finds BambooHR invoices in your Gmail, texts you what you pay and when it renews, and warns you before the 60-day notice date on a contract so the account does not roll into another 12 months.
With your yes, Huck drafts the written request for you to send, then checks later statements for a charge after the end date. You handle the BambooHR sign-in, the employee-record export and the move of payroll and benefits. BambooHR decides any refund; Huck does not promise one.
